• The New School's summer housing is open to current students who are taking summer classes or want to spend the summer in NYC, students from other colleges who are completing internships in the city, and groups and special summer programs.

    Current New School Students

If you are enrolled in a New School degree program in the current spring semester, you have the option to remain in university housing for the summer months. Summer housing is perfect for those who plan to take classes, have an internship, or just want to stay in New York City. For currently enrolled New School students, summer 2023 housing begins on Friday, May 26, and ends on Saturday, August 12.

  • Summer Internship Housing

New School housing offers a safe and convenient home base in New York City for all summer interns and college students, whether they are affiliated with The New School or with other colleges and universities.

Interns will be able to select rooms at 301 Residence Hall. 301 Residence Hall is a short walk from Union Square, a summer evening hangout for young people from all over the city and the venue for the Union Square Greenmarket.

All housing accommodations are suite style and have shared kitchens and bathrooms. Interns will be able to select double bedrooms on the basis of availability. Interns will have roommates and suite mates within their suite.

Because of the structure of our suites, rooms for married couples are not available. Single rooms are limited in number and are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Single rooms are not guaranteed.

Non–New School students living on campus next summer may be required to follow certain COVID-19 policies. Please continue to monitor our site for further information.

  • New York Summer Intensive Studies

All accommodations are shared rooms; no single rooms are available. Students 18 years of age and younger (at move-in and for any portion of the program) are required to abide by our curfew rules and will live within walking distance of their classes. The Housing Application will be available once you have received confirmation of your registration through your summer academic program.

    Parsons Summer Intensive Studies Pre-College

The application for summer 2023 housing will be available through the Continuing and Professional Education office at the end of February 2023. Once you have registered for the program and paid the tuition, you will be sent an email to your newschool.edu email address with instructions for applying for housing approximately two weeks after registration.

Students in all other programs will get an email directly from their summer programs with the Housing Application link and instructions. The Housing Application is available in the Housing Portal. The Housing Application will close on May 15, 2023; no applications will be accepted for New York Summer Intensive Studies for both the College/Adult and the Pre-College programs after that date.

    Conference and Group Housing

The New School may be able to house your conference event, special event or group this summer. Due to social distancing and current health guidance, please email us at [email protected] to inquire about availability, pricing, and options. Non–New School students living on campus this summer are required to follow the university's COVID-19 testing and screening protocols.
