  • International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is pleased to welcome all international students and exchange visitors to The New School and help them enhance their cultural experience by engaging in travel to other parts of the United States as well as internationally. Travel may include short trips while classes are in session or extended travel during academic breaks and vacation periods.

All international students and exchange visitors should plan any travels to avoid missing classes, exams, and/or other required academic activities. The New School has a strict attendance policy. Failure to adhere to university attendance policy may affect final grades and credit hours, which may affect an international student or exchange visitor's F or J status.

To avoid risks during travel, all international students and exchange visitors should maintain F or J status and take time before traveling to understand:

For questions related to travel, please contact ISSS before traveling.

    U.S. Visa Services

As the situation in each country improves, embassies and consulates are increasing the number of visa appointments, including appointments for F-1 and J-1 students and scholars. Please contact the U.S. embassy or consulate nearest you for more information, as service will vary on the basis of available resources and overall health and safety.
