Benjamin Gillespie holds a PhD in Theatre & Performance from The Graduate Center of the City University of New York. His research explores contemporary performance and drama, queer theatre, and the performance of gender, sexuality, and aging. His dissertation was the first major study on the later works of the renowned lesbian-feminist theatre troupe, Split Britches. For over a decade, Benjamin has lectured in theatre and performance studies across New York City. He is Associate Editor of PAJ: A Journal of Performance and Art and a Fellow at the Schwartz Institute at Baruch College, CUNY. His articles and reviews have been published in Theatre Journal, Modern Drama, PAJ: A Journal of Performance and Art, Theatre Survey, Canadian Theatre Review, and Theatre Research in Canada, along with a number of edited anthologies.
